The first listserv that I subscribed to was MERLOT. I searched through several of the materials that were listed there and happened upon a website called GuestGarden.com. This website has examples of webquests that can be used for free or you can subsribe to the site and get webquests that way. I am so interested in this type of research project that I am thinking of making a webquest of my own for the final project for this class.
I found one webquest on the book Dinosaurs Before Dark and I would like to use this to help me format my own webquest. I also found a webquest about the Titanic. I might borrow this webquest for my students to use this coming week as we are learning about the Titanic in our literature series.
I never knew how fun the internet could be for students. I have been trying to figure out ways to integrate technology into my curriculum more this year but I have been having some difficulty due to the fact that I am not the familiar with site that are good and not so good. I am always afraid that I might stear my students the wrong way and I hope to change that this semester with the information that I receive from this class.
I'm only one class in and I already feel more confident in my abilities to share the vastness of the internet with my students.
I am going to continue searching and get back to you with the second useful thing I find.
Hope you are all enjoying this as much as I am!
Happy Blogging

Kids usually love webquests! Glad you found some to inspire you!
ReplyDeleteAnd, really glad that you're already feeling more confident and enjoying all that's out there on the world wide web!!
Kim, I know I should be commenting on sites here. However, I must tell you how much your "Funny Things to Ponder" sayings made my day. As you all know, computers are not my expertise but your gorilla graphic gave me great comic relief. Hang on everybody, I think I'll be able to post my assignment tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteYou found two good ones-Education World's free worksheets and Dinos Before Dark Webquest, but your blog setup is very cool-a little zany, but very cool.
