Using Groves Index assignment

When I was searching through the index I found several pages that were of interest to me. Most of them interested me because they involved subjects that I teach of have taught in the past. There were two pages devoted to Plimouth Plantation. The third graders at my school have been visiting Plimouth for severall years and I beleive this would be an interesting assignment to do with my students. The page is named /Ferrari/.
There was also a page that was titled "Student Credit Union" by /donnelly/. This page was very interesting. He assigned his students the job of buying their grades using checks, bank statements, and other items used to track savings and spendings. Sounds like a fun assignment to get kids interested in using a bank account.
Finally, I just wanted to say that the most useful part of this index is that it helped me organize my thoughts to come up with a final project. Being able to see the different ways that people set up their sight helped me to visualize how I would like to do my own project. This site was very interesting and informative.

Homework Assignment #1: Second useful thing

Ok I know this isn't the most interesting thing on the internet but I have to say I almost jumped out of my skin because I found the website www.educationworld.com and it has FREEEEEEEEE worksheets. The one I am most interested in is the Multiplication practice sheets. I am always looking for practice sheet for multiplication because the students in my class are just learning multiplication and how else to internalize it except practice, practice, practice. So I am excited to find this website.
This site has many different things to use that I have not yet discovered but I am excited to do so. One other thing that I like on this site is the Fact Monster searchs. There is actually a site called www.factmoster.com that allows students to input questions in the search engine and find answers similiar to what we did in class on Saturday. The Fact Monster WKSHTs have skill levels from 2nd grade all the way up to middle school. VERY INTERESTING!
So I will explore more and let you know what I find. But be sure to check it out its really fun and interesting.

Homework Assignment #1: One useful thing

The first listserv that I subscribed to was MERLOT. I searched through several of the materials that were listed there and happened upon a website called GuestGarden.com. This website has examples of webquests that can be used for free or you can subsribe to the site and get webquests that way. I am so interested in this type of research project that I am thinking of making a webquest of my own for the final project for this class.
I found one webquest on the book Dinosaurs Before Dark and I would like to use this to help me format my own webquest. I also found a webquest about the Titanic. I might borrow this webquest for my students to use this coming week as we are learning about the Titanic in our literature series.
I never knew how fun the internet could be for students. I have been trying to figure out ways to integrate technology into my curriculum more this year but I have been having some difficulty due to the fact that I am not the familiar with site that are good and not so good. I am always afraid that I might stear my students the wrong way and I hope to change that this semester with the information that I receive from this class.
I'm only one class in and I already feel more confident in my abilities to share the vastness of the internet with my students.
